Demand for water supply increases in summer when the islands welcome an influx of tourists.

Irish Water says water shortages could occur across the three Aran Islands this year due to a lack of rainfall over the last number of months.

The utility is searching for a solution to the low levels of raw water on the Aran Islands, most of which is comprised of stored rainwater.
