The council issued a Bathing Prohibition Notice earlier this week due to high readings of e-coli at the beach.

The most likely cause of the contamination was last Sunday's heavy rainfall.

After re-testing, the council now says the quality of the bathing water has returned to normal and it is safe to swim.
