City public lecture to explore natural beekeeping

A public lecture will take place at University of Galway this evening to explore parasite challenges in beekeeping.

The event will feature a team of international honeybee scientists who will focus on the Varroa Mite - and how to combat it without treatments.

It's typically treated with chemicals, but these have an impact on the bees and the wider environment.

The public event takes place at the Martin Ryan Annex Theatre at 7.30 this evening.
