Galway Bay fm newsroom - Dominick Street Lower in the city is closed this morning due to an apartment fire.
The alarm was raised shortly before 8 this morning, and three fire brigades and an ambulance are at the scene.
Gardaí say it's not yet known if anyone was in the apartment when the fire broke out.
Heavy delays are expected in the city's west end while firefighters attend the scene.
