More than €16m in funding has been awarded for three high-tech Galway projects.
The allocations are under the latest round of the Government's Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund.
The biggest single allocation is more than €11m to a collaborative medtech project involving Endowave, based at the ATU iHub at Dublin Road.
They're developing advanced technology that can remove unwanted tissue without major surgery - like tumours or cardiac arrhythmia sources.
A further €4m will go towards a national project that involves ÉireComposites Teo in Indreabhán.
They're working to developing new specialist lightweight materials for drones, and advanced production technologies.
And €1.7m has been awarded to a partnership involving Spiorad Medical at University of Galway.
It's developing a vascular closure device can that stop bleeding quickly and safely during specialist medical procedures.
