File for DPP over serious assault in Mervue

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Three men have been released without charge following a serious assault in Mervue at the weekend.

The incident happened shortly after 5 on Saturday evening.

One man - aged in his 30's - was taken to University Hospital Galway with injuries which are serious but not life threatening.

Three men - aged 43, 42 and 31 - were arrested at the scene and taken to Mill Street and Loughrea Garda Stations for questioning.

They have since been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
