Galway Bay fm newsroom - 100-thousand euro in funding has been approved for Galway city to continue its role as a Gaeltacht Service Town.

A Gaeltacht Service Town is a town or city that plays a key role in providing public services and social and commercial facilities for Gaeltacht communities.

The funding approved by Gaeltacht Minister and Galway West TD Sean Kyne will go towards the development of a language plan for the city.

Meanwhile, an Irish Language Network has been established in Loughrea which aims to promote the use of the Irish language in households, businesses, and the community.

80-thousand euro has been allocated to Gaeilge Locha Riach to implement the network.
