Galway City Centre falls down national litter survey rankings while Ballinasloe returns with top 5 spot

Galway City Centre has once again been rated as 'clean' but has fallen out of the top 10 cleanest areas in the country.

Ballinasloe has been ranked in 5th spot, on its return to the league, with sites such as the residential area of Willow Park and Ballinasloe Marina being praised.

Galway City Centre has fallen to 26th spot, with areas such as the Courthouse, UHG and the recycle bank on Western Distributor Road letting the side down.

However, areas such as the Town Hall Theatre, the prom and residential areas of Fánán and Corrach Buí were commended for being presented very well.

Ballybane has improved from littered to moderately littered in 32nd spot, with praise for St Bridget's Church and works at Ballybane Road, Castlepark Road and Monivea Road.

But, Ballybane Industrial Estate, Bring Centre, and Castle Park were noted for being 'subject to monumental dumping and long-term neglect. .

Sligo again topped the IBAL ranking, with Limerick City Centre the only area branded ‘littered’.
