Galway City Council has awarded the multi-million euro contract for the fit-out of its new offices at Crown Square.
Flynn Management and Contractors has begun the fit-out of the building, which is expected to be ready later this year.
It will host staff and services currently located in four different sites across the city.
The full value of the contract is not known, but the local authority has drawn down a €15m loan to fund the works.
The building was purchased for €45m in 2022, and has proven controversial, despite multiple independent valuations concluding it was the best option available to the council.
The fit-out will include accessible public spaces, meeting rooms, a larger Council Chamber, staff canteen and welfare areas.
Construction has already begun and the new offices are expected to be ready for a move-in date by the end of this year.
Attention will then turn to the future of the current City Hall site at College Road - which will be part of a masterplan for future mixed-use development.
