Galway farmers urged to apply for beef scheme as deadline looms

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway farmers are being urged to apply for the Beef Expectional Aid Measure - or BEAM - scheme before the deadline closes on Saturday (8th).

The Beam scheme is open to members of a Bord Bia Assurance or Department of Agriculture environmental scheme.

The aid scheme is paid on adult cattle slaughtered between 24th of September 2018 and 12th May 2019, at a rate of one hundred euro per animal.

Aid is also paid on suckler cows with some conditions attached.

Minister of State and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon says the scheme is designed to help beef farmers effected by recent difficulties in the industry.
