Galway International Arts Fesitval (GIAF) establishes first carbon footprint study

Galway International Arts Festival has established its first carbon footprint study.

The report by Climeaction is an in-depth calculation of the greenhouse gas emissions by the festival's operations.

The audit has identified emission ‘hotspots’ across the organisation’s operations, however further detail is unavailable as the festival is still processing the data.

Each year will see that data collection refined more, with the festival improving its reporting accuracy and increasing its carbon reduction efforts.

As part of its sustainability measures, GIAF is also using a platform to analyse visitor movement, concentration and stay duration

This year's festival runs from July 13th-26th, with a full programme of events in areas such as theatre, music and street spectacle.
