Gardai investigate discovery of body in Barna

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a male washed ashore at New Village, Furrymelia, East Barna last evening (17/12).

The discovery was made by a passerby who then alerted Gardaí.

Following the discovery after 4.30 last evening, the body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway for a post mortem examination.

No formal identification has been made and Gardaí are treating the death as a personal tragedy.

A file will be prepared for a coroner’s inquest which will be held at a later date.
