Galway Bay fm newsroom - Half a million euro has been awarded to an NUI Galway engineer for the development of a device that aims to reduce the rate of stroke and heart failure.

Biomedical engineer, Oisin McGrath, will develop his project called 'Galenband' for commercialisation.

The Galenband is a wrist-worn device that monitors heart activity, made specifically for people with atrial fibrillation which causes the heart to beat irregularly.
