A number of parties are hoping to challenge the decision to approve the Galway City Ring Road.
Permission was granted for the major project by An Coimisiún Pleanála in April this year, and the deadline to put forward a challenge has now passed.
The proposed 18-kilometre road would run from the M6 motorway on the outskirts of the city to west of Bearna.
The High Court will consider four applications seeking leave to apply for a Judicial Review of the permission, with hearings to take place in mid-November.
Four days have been set aside for the hearing, with hopes a decision will be made before the end of the year.
