Galway Bay fm newsroom - HSE officials have reported progress in their bid to deliver a long awaited new cardiothoracic ward at UHG.

A meeting of the Regional Health Forum West heard the project had been delayed because of challenges related to finding alternative accommodation for the current services at the site.
Alternative accommodation has since been secured and work has begun to vacate the space.

CEO of Saolta University Health Care Group Tony Canavan confirmed that work is ongoing to reactivate the funding for the project and to progress the ward creation as soon as possible.
