Local Councillor calls for return-reward recycling scheme

A local Councillor is calling for Galway City Council to trial a return reward recycling scheme.

Fianna Fail city Councillor Alan Cheevers is calling on the council to trial a scheme where people get money back when they return glass bottles, plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

The pilot initiative would involve the use of reverse vending machines, where users deposit their bottles or cans and receive a credit voucher that can be used in participating supermarkets.
