M6 motorway near Loughrea reopens following collision

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A stretch of the M6 motorway westbound between junctions 16 and 17 which had been closed because of a collision has re-opened.

It's understood no-one was hurt in the single vehicle collision around 8am during heavy rainfall.

A status yellow rainfall warning remains in place for Galway and the rest of Connacht until 6 this evening.

Heavy or prolonged showers are expected with the risk of thundery downpours.
