Marginal drop in burglaries in Galway in first quarter

There was a very marginal drop in burglaries in Galway in the first quarter of this year.

According to new figures from Phonewatch and the CSO, 55 burglaries were recorded in the Galway Garda division between January and March.

That's a drop of just 2 percent compared to the first quarter of last year.

Elsewhere, some other areas experienced significant increases - with Kerry up 142 percent, Sligo & Leitrim up 67 percent, and Clare & Tipperary up 42 percent.

In the opposite direction, there was a reduction of 31 percent in Wexford & Wicklow, 29 percent in Dublin South and 20 percent in Kildare & Carlow.
