Planning permission has been refused for a casino at the Wellpark Retail Park in the city.
Silverworth Limited had sought permission for a change of use of an existing retail unit fronting onto the Dublin Road.
There had been a number of local objections, particularly around the proximity to a nearby secondary school and residential areas.
City planners have now refused permission, holding that it would not be in character with the area and established retail use.

They further found the proposed signage and external alterations would also be out of character with the building and the streetscape at a prominent location.
