Progress is being made on Irish language use in Gaeltacht communities, but challenges remain, according to a new review of the first ten language plans.
These include two plans from Connemara - Conamara Láir and An Cheathrú Rua.
The review examined how the language planning process was working under the Gaeltacht Act.
It has made a range of recommendations, including improving public services, supporting family and youth initiatives, and boosting Irish language use in local communities.
The Government says steps are already underway to act on its recommendations, including an additional three million euro in investment to support the process.
