A significant programme of water mains upgrades for Salthill are beginning this week.
Uisce Eireann says the works will result in a more secure and reliable water supply and will help reduce rates of leakage on the network.
Some traffic management will be in place during the works
Almost 1.4km of old cast iron mains are to be replaced with modern pipes around Lenaboy Park, the Upper Salthill Road, Atlantic Terrace, Lenaboy Avenue, Rockhill and San Antonio Terrace.
The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.
Some traffic management measures will be in place during the works, in the form of two, three and four-way traffic lights.
Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times, and the works by Farrans Construction will be completed later this year.
