Six year old boy rescued from water at Renvyle

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A six year old boy was rescued from the water at Renvyle in Connemara yesterday evening.

Shortly after 5pm, Malin Coastguard was alerted that a young boy had washed out to sea on a surfboard.

The Coastguard issued a pan-pan broadcast which alerted locals to the situation.

The Rescue 118 helicopter was tasked by Malin Coastguard as well as crews from Cleggan Coastguard and Clifden RNLI.

A local boat driver who heard the pan-pan alert located the boy and brought him to shore.

He was assessed by crews at the shore who concluded he did not need further medical attention.
