Galway Bay fm newsroom - UHG is the most overcrowded hospital in the country today.

There are 52 patients waiting on trolleys or along wards at the facility according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

UHG is followed by 49 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick and 33 at University Hospital Waterford.

A total of 454 patients are waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
