Galway Bay fm newsroom - A water bathing ban has been imposed at Grattan Road Beach near Salthill.

The City Council has placed a 'bathing prohibition notice' with immediate effect due to the detection of E-Coli.

It says high levels were detected at the beach in samples taken on Wednesday.

It's the second time the beach has been closed in recent weeks due to E-Coli contamination following heavy rainfall.
