Three candidates to contest Pete Roche's vacant seat on County Council

Three candidates are in the running for Pete Roche's vacant seat on Galway County Council.

It's after Fine Gael's Pete Roche won a Dáil seat for the Galway East constituency in the recent General Election.

The three candidates are: Pete's niece Olivia Rooney from Barnaderg, Siobhán McHugh  daughter of former Tuam councillor Tom McHugh, and Tuam businessman Kabir Hamad.

The Fine Gael selection convention for the Council seat will take place at 8 tonight at the Ard Rí Hotel in Tuam.
