The local angling community has hit out after the Salmon Weir was closed because of high water temperatures in the River Corrib.
It was closed to fishing on June 22nd, and only reopened this morning, despite anglers saying fishing has been able to continue during that time in Oughterard, Cong and River Clare.
According to Inland Fisheries Ireland's Warm Water Protocol, water temperatures above 20 degrees in rivers can cause stress to the fish.
