Galway Bay fm newsroom - The government is being urged to provide increased funding for the 10 thousand Galway farmers and landowners in Areas of Natural Constraint.
The national ANC scheme deals with areas of land situated on the mainland which are designated as 'disadvantaged,' and land on offshore islands.
Galway Roscommon Fianna Fáil TD Eugene Muprhy says its essential that more funding is provided to ANC-eligible landowners in next year's budget.
He says the current national funding pot of 205 million euro is not enough to ensure the sustainability of rural economies.
