City projects can avail of €8m funding earmarked for "unlikely" regional aquatic centre

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Funding of €8m, which had been earmarked for the aquatic centre at Cappagh Community Centre, can be put toward other city projects.

The money was assigned to the proposed regional aquatic centre, but the €5m increase in construction costs means the project is unlikely to proceed.

The Department of Sport and Tourism has confirmed that the council can apply for the €8m to fund an alternative project.
