Galway Bay fm newwsroom - Green Party Chair and local Senator Pauline O'Reilly is welcoming news that farmers in Galway will be paid to protect scrub and woodland on farms under new CAP proposals.

Under proposals from the Department of Agriculture, farmers will be able to recieve payments for land where up to 50% is dedicated to scrub, thicket and woodland habitat.

These areas were previously ineligible for farm payments leading to farmers removing these high nature value habitats.
