Status yellow thunderstorm warning for Galway extended to 10 tonight

The status yellow thunderstorm warning for Galway and several other counties has been extended to 10 tonight.

There's a risk of localised flooding, hail damage and difficult travelling conditions along with potential outages to power and water supplies.

It covers Connacht, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Longford.

Meanwhile, Athenry recorded the country's top temperature yesterday of 32 point 1 degrees, while Tuam wasn't far behind, with 32 degrees.

A status yellow high temperature warning for the country has been extended to tomorrow morning - with over 27 degrees expected in many parts today, although the East will be the hottest.
